Preview: Atlas vs. América · prediction, team news, line-ups
Atlas host Club America at the Estadio Jalisco on Wednesday 21 October, with kickoff at 19:00 Mexico City time in Apertura 2026 Matchday 13.
The Rojinegros sit third on 21 points from 12 games, while the league leaders have 24 points from 11 matches.
Match preview
Atlas are unbeaten in four Liga MX games, beating Necaxa 2-0 away on 17 October, drawing 1-1 with Chivas, winning 3-2 at Tijuana and drawing 1-1 with Pumas. Before that run, they lost 5-2 at Toluca.
Home form is the concern for Hernan Crespo's side. They have won once, drawn three times and lost twice in six games at the Jalisco, scoring six and conceding nine.
On the road, Atlas have been a different team, with five wins and one defeat from six outings and 13 goals scored. Luis Esteves leads their scoring charts with four, and their goal difference is +1.
America won 5-3 at Leon on 18 October in a match that produced eight cards. They drew 1-1 with Monterrey beforehand and beat Necaxa 4-2 on 28 September, with friendlies against Chivas (lost 2-0) and Cruz Azul (0-0) in between.
The leaders have the joint-best attack in the division alongside Cruz Azul, with 27 goals, and have lost only once in 11 games. Their goal difference stands at +13.
Henry Martin has seven goals and is the focal point, with Brian Rodriguez and Miguel Borja on four each. Away from home, the Eagles have won four, drawn one and lost one, scoring 16 and conceding 11.
The recent head-to-head record favours the visitors, who have won four of the last five meetings: 2-1 in the 2024 Leagues Cup, 3-0 in September 2024, 3-1 in March 2025 and 4-2 in August 2025.
The exception came on 26 April 2026, when Atlas won 1-0 at America. That defeat left the Eagles eighth in the Clausura overall table.
The context is a fight at the top. A home win would take Atlas to 24 points, level with America, who also have a game in hand.

Team news
Atlas get Milton Valenzuela back. The club won an appeal to the disciplinary committee over his red card against Necaxa, so he is available to Hernan Crespo. It is the third time this season the Zorros have overturned a dismissal.
Duk remains absent after rupturing the patellar tendon in his left knee against Pumas. He has been successfully operated on and is expected to be out for six months.
For America, Miguel Borja returns after serving a one-match ban for his sending off. Victor Davila is out for the rest of the tournament with an anterior cruciate ligament tear. Raphael Veiga and Ramon Juarez, who missed the win at Leon with knocks, could return, although Veiga's availability depends on his progress.
ClaroSports expects both managers to repeat the sides that won on Matchday 12. Guillermo Almada could rotate in attack because of the double matchday.
Atlas are strong on the road, but they have dropped points at the Jalisco and concede 1.5 goals per home game. America arrive with the joint-most productive attack in the league, an in-form Henry Martin and the better away record. We expect an open contest, with a narrow visiting edge and a home goal given Atlas's four-game unbeaten run.
